Mostyn Moreno Foundation Hosts Screening of “How to Train Your Dragon”

The Mostyn Moreno Foundation is hosting a screening of the DreamWorks movie, “How To Train Your Dragon” at the Children’s Museum of Houston.

HOUSTON — The Glenda Jean Mostyn and Joe E. Moreno Educational Foundation (Mostyn Moreno Foundation) and ReelAbilities: Houston Disabilities Film Festival 2014 are co-hosting a free screening of Dream Works’ “How to Train Your Dragon” on Sunday, February 9th at the Children’s Museum of Houston.

Admission to the 1:00 p.m. showing is free but attendees are requested to make a reservation. Along with the movie, registered guests will also have free admission to the Children’s Museum after the screening. Special appearances will be made by Smash the Horse of the Houston Mounted Patrol. Vouchers for free cookies and milk from the museum café will also be distributed to registered guests. Each guest will also receive a rubber bracelet with bearing the phrase, “Level the Playing Field”.

“These events provide a real opportunity for engagement with the community,” said Monte Osburn, Executive Director for the Mostyn Moreno Foundation. “Solutions to issues affecting children with disabilities require a lot of effort from everyone. If we get parents to come out and enjoy a movie with their children while discussing a few of the challenges associated with raising children with disabilities, we’ll have done a great thing.”

Guests to the screening will receive discounted parking. Parents will also be offered information on discussing disabilities with their children. Full access to benefits are reserved to guests that register ahead of time. Registration for the Sunday screening can be done at the Reel Abilities website found below.

“We really hope to have a packed house,” Osburn added. “It’s a great movie with a great message on overcoming disabilities and we can’t wait to share in that experience with some great kids.”

Along with the Sunday showing, additional viewings will be held the next day, February 10th at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center on West Gray. Information will still be available to parents though additional benefits, such as free admission to the children’s museum, will not be offered.
